Review

The Lost City of Z has a running time of 141 minutes, the movie is PG-13 rated and is showing since April 21, 2017 and based on author David Grann's nonfiction bestseller, "The Lost City of Z" tells the incredible true story of British explorer Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam), who journeys into the Amazon at the dawn of the 20th century and discovers evidence of a previously unknown, advanced civilization that may have once inhabited the region. Despite being ridiculed by the scientific establishment who regard indigenous populations as "savages," the determined Fawcett - supported by his devoted wife (Sienna Miller), son (Tom Holland) and aide-de-camp (Robert Pattinson) - returns time and again to his beloved jungle in an attempt to prove his case, culminating in his mysterious disappearance in 1925. An epically scaled tale of courage and passion, told in writer/director James Gray's classic filmmaking style, "The Lost City of Z" is a stirring tribute to the exploratory spirit and a conflicted adventurer driven to the verge of obsession.

The CAST starts with the main character Charlie Hunnam as Percy Fawcett and his performance is just incredible. To see what is happening to him and to see that he suffers from each moment in his life, and the fact, that he is still standing is just wow. I mean we have a similar performance of Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant, okay this might assume that it is standard but it is not. To see the acting of Charlie Hunnam is different compared to Leo's. He is great, he never gives up and makes his own way. He is strong and convincing.
Robert Pattinson palys Henry Costin. Although Costin gets ill, he lives. He's one of Fawcett's most trusted companions; in fact, Fawcett describes him as one of "the only assistants I could ever call completely reliable and fully adaptable, and never have I wished for better company". Sienna Miller plays Nina Fawcett. Nina marries some other schlub—who drops dead, and it's only after that that she marries Fawcett. You might say it's her destiny. She becomes his "chief advocate" and spends her days living vicariously through him. She publicizes his journeys, but she never travels herself, unless you count moving from one ramshackle house to another because of her deadbeat husband's inability to pay rent while he's "traveling."

The CAMERA is great. We have slow motions, POV, landscapes from the Amazon Jungle and so many beautiful totals. Awesome interaction with the actors and also perfect and clear animations.

The MUSIC is okay.

The SETTING is of course the Amazon.

The EFFECTS are good and the animation look high leveled.

What I liked about the movie

is the cast, the performance especially from Charlie Hunnam and the storytelling, since it is a real life story you cannot fake or invent stuff. The music is okay, the effects are great and overall I am happy that I watched it, it was a nice adventure in the Amazon.

What I did not like about the movie

is that it is too long and some actions can be seen very early, so the movie has not a lot suprise and somehow it wants to be something like Kong Skull Island, and there is no need for that because it is much better that Kong.

8/10 for the genre

8/10 overall

and so it is a movie which you should watch. Have fun with this great adventure from the Amazon and thanks for reading.
