Here are some good things you need to know about Fast and Furious 8, here is
FILM NEWS

Surprises at March's CinemaCon 2017 included an unannounced showing of
The Fate of the Furious. Most of the principal cast assembled on-stage to introduce the movie. Read on for a no-spoilers look at what we learned.

Dwayne Johnson was noticeably absent from the presentation
Unfortunately, it seems like the on-set beef between
Dwayne Johnson and
Vin Diesel
will affect the press tour for the movie, because Johnson, who was
everywhere at CinemaCon 2017, did not attend Universal's presentation.
Hopefully the
well-documented on-set drama will resolve like a third act happy ending.

The on-screen dynamic between Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson makes you forget about any real-world problems
The script's most memorable dialogue is reserved for Statham's and Johnson's interactions, and they share a scene with the best stuntwork in the movie.
If there were ever a spin-off movie, we'd vote for it to center on Deckard Shaw and Hobbs.

OK, we seriously cannot stop thinking about Jason Statham
Aside
from his banter with Johnson, Statham's classic
parkour-meets-fisticuffs arsenal of bad-assery makes him as essential to
the franchise as any of his co-stars. Most impressive is the fact that,
for a bulk of the third act, he fights his way through scenes with one
arm carrying precious cargo. And that's just one tease about his
character's arc.

Like Charlize Theron's hairstyle, the plot has twists
Wrapped
around a standard '80s-era Cold War thriller is an ultimatum handed to
Dominic Torero that makes him embrace his former bad-guy side. If you
scroll through the cast list, you can get an idea of what's coming.
There are more than a few unexpected diversions and, as the title
implies, fateful decisions made throughout the movie.

In this movie world, there's only light traffic in Manhattan
The second most commanding car-chase sequence takes place in Manhattan, where's there's barely any traffic until Cipher (Charlize Theron) says so. Dominic commutes into the city in record time!

All Helen Mirren needs is two scenes to make her essential to the movie
The most-welcome newcomer to the saga is Helen Mirren, who appears on screen in a tailored leopard print jacket and proceeds to add the first wrinkle to the just-hatched plot.

The "Game of Thrones" connection grows by one
Not only does Nathalie Emmanuel return as computer whiz Ramsey, but her "Game of Thrones" co-star Kristofer Hivju
also joins the cast as Cipher's enforcer, Rhodes. And just like on the
show, the two characters haven't met yet. (We're stepping around a
spoiler here.)

There's a touching tribute to Paul Walker
Vin Diesel got choked up answering a question about Paul Walker prior to the screening, and the tribute paid to his legacy had us reaching for our kerchief at the end of the movie.
The Fate of the Furious opens in the U.S. on April 14, 2017
