A movie which made me tears up in my eyes and deals based on a story about the shocking terrorism attacks in Boston during the Marathon in 2013 is up in the new movie Peter Berg's:

STORYLINE :
On April 15, 2013 Boston, Massachusetts, Police Sgt, Tommy Saunders is
pulling security duty on the annual Boston Marathon when the Tsarnaev
brothers strike with their homemade bombs in an act of terrorism. In the
resulting chaos as the wounded are cared for, Saunders and his comrades
join forces with the FBI to get to the bottom of this attack. As the
investigation continues, the Tsarnaev brothers realize that the
authorities are close to identifying them and attempt to flee the city
to continue their fanatical mayhem. To stop them, a police manhunt is
performed that would have bloody confrontations and a massive dragnet
shutting down the City of Boston to make sure there is no escape from
the law.
REVIEW:
Patriots Day's running is about 133 minutes, the movie is R-13 rated, and is available on DVD and Blu-Ray. It tells us the story about the terror attacks during the Boston marathon on April 15, 2013, Like every year at the Patriots Day. At the finish area just a few seconds after the first runner finished, there have been two explosions and question is who is responsible for that, how to find the offenders, and how to catch them. These are the topics in the movie and first of all I have to say, this is about the people, who are offender and victims, and it is a movie which shocked me while watching, later on more about that, and where I was worried, that Patriots Day is a movie full American patriotism, but it is not. It is a great movie, with a great cast, with stories about people who have been directly involved into that what happened, and it made me shocked, but also interested to watch this one.
Patriots Day has a great CAST: Mark Wallberg as Tommy Saunders, a police man who is loving his job, he is the main character, and main person, when it comes up to tell us the police's POV. He is actually just a small head in the order of being a cop, but he takes over responsibilities. Than we have Kevin Bacon as Richard DesLauriers, he is from the F.B.I., and he has take make decision like is this a terrorism attack or what is going in Boston. He has to decide, where to build up control points, and so Patriots Day gives up a very detailed insight view of how the work within the F.B.I. works, that is because of him. Than we have John Godman as Commissioner Ed Davi, and the interesting things about him are, that the movie is based on his real statements during the investigations, and he is the one, who is the head of police offices in Boston, and the way he is performing is just great. He is a leader, he is a controller, and he is the brain outside of all the chaos and tragedies happened in Boston.
The CAMERA is trying not to create a theme full of sadness, it tries to stay neutral, as much as possible. It has movie set sequences, but it also switches to security cam's pictures, as well as sequences taken with phones. In the movie there is a sequence, when the police con fests all the phones, and some camera shoots from those phones are placed in this movie. So the camera creates a mixed between a Hollywood movie, and real life and real time sequences, so that we also have a kind of documentation. The scenes, especially during the explosions are fully pointed, means the camera shows on it. We see blood, a lot of blood, torn arms, legs, heads, and also dead bodies of adults and children, the camera does not hesitate to show us the horror and terror.
The SETTING is most of the time in Boston's city, but also in hangars, empty streets, where no one is around when the police hunts the offenders, and of course the marathon itself.
The MUSIC fits to the movie, it is dramatic, and not much over the point, and it creates an atmosphere like what will happen next character.
The EFFECTS are hand made and create a feeling of being in there directly.
CONCLUSION:
Let's be honest. Of course we heard about the terror attacks in the news, he saw pictures, and heard about the victims. This movie is something very special and it shows us the documentation of the happenings, mixed with the Hollywood feeling, all based on true story, and the movie has a very good transformation between those factors. I grew in a world full of chances and peace, in Berlin during the 90s terrorism was no topic. Since 9/11 terror is always there, it is highly discussed in the media, in the news, as well as newspaper and social media and the fears combined with that. It is a topic we can discuss about, whether it is good or not to place this in a movie. What we cannot leave not discussed is the fact that terrorism is always around, look at Hannover, where a soccer needed to be evacuated, France, Belgium, or the latest happenings in Berlin at the Breitscheidtplatz, in the city, where I grew. When you watch now Patriots Day and the movie wants to point that we are stronger than terrorism in the world, the movie is not a movie against religions and hate. It has a clear, and gives the room to the offenders, who are also people, and they have a reason of what they do.
What I like about the movie:
the storyline and telling is good, even though it is strange to watch a movie about happenings 4 years later. It has a we are one message, the movie does not criticize religions or Patriots people. The looks and drama is good, the cast, and the message in all is good.
What I do not like about the movie:
It is too long, and in some moments it is a kind of funny which does not fit to the message. Also some people are reacting and acting in a funny way, which makes it a bit invincible. That is all.
In the USA, it was non success, but I think Patriots Day is good and gets as a Drama / Action / Thriller 8.5 out of 10 points and overall 8/10 points and so I which you a lot of fun while Boston's Patriots Day. Thank you for reading and have a good day.
