MY 50TH POST - MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL THE TIME

Today is a very special, today is a lovely day. Today it is my 50th post on MOVIETOWN and so today is a very special review day, it is my absolute favorite movie. So all what I can say is

WHAT A LOVELY DAY

REVIEW TODAY IN A DIFFERENT WAY

MAD MAX FURY ROADS

is available on BLU-RAY & DVD, has a running time of 120 minutes, is PG-16 rated and tell us the story about Max, played by Tom Hardy. An apocalyptic story set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and almost everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life. Within this world exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There's Max, a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos. And Furiosa, a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland. Max is an outsider, with a past he has to deal with every day. A man who is caged under a war lord and this in a world full of dust and desert sand. A kinda end time scenario where the mankind has a hard time to survive and everyone is almost ready to do anything to get some water and it is the war lord who says I own the water to rule the land, he treats women like cows, milks them and this sound absurd and it is also shown in different scenes. So it is Max who is in the middle of this world and he wants to escape and he meets a truck and a girl named Furyosa played in an outstanding way by Charlize Theron. She tries to rescue those girls and women and it is the said war lord who tries to catch them and bring them back into their cage. Put in scenes in a fantastic end of the world scenes with absolutely awesome pictures, music, and effects. It is a huge SCI-FI and action adventure like nothing else, the movie cannot be compared to anything else, it is the best in my eyes which was produced in Hollywood since ever. The music is bombastic, awesome, good, the effects are incredible and nothing looks like CGI. Check out the first look footage which is also great. It has a hammer score, and Mad Max looks like a million dollar movie and in fact it have been 100 million and has such great tempo and speed that two hours are nothing compared to what we can see. From the first second until the very last scene you have and feel pure adrenalin, that you cannot believe what you see, so Georg Miller as the director and camera man created something absolutely awesome. The cast is incredible, where we can see that those people work together perfectly and in front of the camera the story of Mad Max himself steps almost in the background, which creates a movie, which is better than the original version from 1979. This means Mad Max Fury Road pumps you up with adrenalin because the action is constantly high over the full 120 minutes, because it is fast, it is hard, and it is bloody without any buts. It is creative and crazy in the action scenes like no other film can follow up on that one. So many great pictures, so many cool cuts and effects and so many good work behind the camera, which is so slow and not over dose like other action movies, which wants to point out because of a fast camera, that it is an action movie. Mad Max does not need this. I am such a great fan of this movie, which is full of action and hate, boss an evil talks, that it is the best I ever found in my life so far.

10/10 genre / overall

Review

The Lost City of Z has a running time of 141 minutes, the movie is PG-13 rated and is showing since April 21, 2017 and based on author David Grann's nonfiction bestseller, "The Lost City of Z" tells the incredible true story of British explorer Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam), who journeys into the Amazon at the dawn of the 20th century and discovers evidence of a previously unknown, advanced civilization that may have once inhabited the region. Despite being ridiculed by the scientific establishment who regard indigenous populations as "savages," the determined Fawcett - supported by his devoted wife (Sienna Miller), son (Tom Holland) and aide-de-camp (Robert Pattinson) - returns time and again to his beloved jungle in an attempt to prove his case, culminating in his mysterious disappearance in 1925. An epically scaled tale of courage and passion, told in writer/director James Gray's classic filmmaking style, "The Lost City of Z" is a stirring tribute to the exploratory spirit and a conflicted adventurer driven to the verge of obsession.

The CAST starts with the main character Charlie Hunnam as Percy Fawcett and his performance is just incredible. To see what is happening to him and to see that he suffers from each moment in his life, and the fact, that he is still standing is just wow. I mean we have a similar performance of Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant, okay this might assume that it is standard but it is not. To see the acting of Charlie Hunnam is different compared to Leo's. He is great, he never gives up and makes his own way. He is strong and convincing.
Robert Pattinson palys Henry Costin. Although Costin gets ill, he lives. He's one of Fawcett's most trusted companions; in fact, Fawcett describes him as one of "the only assistants I could ever call completely reliable and fully adaptable, and never have I wished for better company". Sienna Miller plays Nina Fawcett. Nina marries some other schlub—who drops dead, and it's only after that that she marries Fawcett. You might say it's her destiny. She becomes his "chief advocate" and spends her days living vicariously through him. She publicizes his journeys, but she never travels herself, unless you count moving from one ramshackle house to another because of her deadbeat husband's inability to pay rent while he's "traveling."

The CAMERA is great. We have slow motions, POV, landscapes from the Amazon Jungle and so many beautiful totals. Awesome interaction with the actors and also perfect and clear animations.

The MUSIC is okay.

The SETTING is of course the Amazon.

The EFFECTS are good and the animation look high leveled.

What I liked about the movie

is the cast, the performance especially from Charlie Hunnam and the storytelling, since it is a real life story you cannot fake or invent stuff. The music is okay, the effects are great and overall I am happy that I watched it, it was a nice adventure in the Amazon.

What I did not like about the movie

is that it is too long and some actions can be seen very early, so the movie has not a lot suprise and somehow it wants to be something like Kong Skull Island, and there is no need for that because it is much better that Kong.

8/10 for the genre

8/10 overall

and so it is a movie which you should watch. Have fun with this great adventure from the Amazon and thanks for reading.

BELOW HER MOUTH is a bold, uninhibited drama that begins with a passionate weekend affair between two women. Dallas, a roofer and Jasmine, a fashion editor, share a powerful and immediate connection that inevitably derails both of their lives.

Review

Below her mouth has a running time of 94 minutes, the movie is F-rated (The F-Rating is a classification for any film which is directed by a woman, is written by a woman, features significant women on screen in their own right. The rating is designed to support and promote women and redress the imbalance in the film industry), and starts this Thursday in the cinemas and is a story about a girl meets a girl except that the latter is engaged to a boy. It’s a tender lesbian romance that showcases the sexual awakening of one of its lead characters. But it’s also one that could do with a lot more conversation and a little less action, because these two lovers get very busy to the point that they do very little else.

But let's start first with the CAST. The story begins with a Swedish-born roofer named Dallas (model, Erika Linder) who is living in Toronto with her live-in girlfriend. Dallas breaks up with her partner and is quite cold and callous about the whole thing and sometimes her motivations in this film seem a little unclear. Model, Erika Linder makes her acting debut and she shows a lot of promise.
Natalie Krill also stars as Jasmine, a fashion editor whose male fiancé Rile (Sebastian Pigott) is away on a work trip. Jasmine goes to a bar to let her hair down and she encounters Dallas for the first time. Dallas propositions Jasmine but the latter initially refuses. Eventually the pair hook-up and they become so consumed by their own steamy, love affair that they engage in lots of sensual and explicit sex. April Mullen acts as the director of this film and it was one that was produced with a female-only crew, which is commendable. It is nice to watch things (particularly the sex scenes) from the female gaze for a change and it is obvious that Linder and Krill share chemistry. But what this film lacks from newcomer writer, Stephanie Fabrizi is some more story and character development. There are times when it is hard for audiences to understand why the pair are attracted to each other beyond the obvious physical lust and this detracts from the proceedings. The character’s backstories and overall personalities could have done with a little more detail as well.

The CAMERA is okay, sometimes it just wants to point out the love and sex scenes between Dallas and Jasmine, but because of the F-rating it is not allowed to show the full details. So we have a problem here with the screening and movements of the camera, because actually the girls are not afraid to act in front of the camera, but it is directed like the POV wants to be like shy people who want to look away. This ruins the love romance and also the SETTING of the movie, later on more. Overall the camera is okay, it uses sad colors, when there are sad moments in the movie, but also colorful pictures, when it is about partying and love.

The MUSIC is too loud and too much over the point sometimes, especially when we have dialogues and moments where the two girls are flirting in clubs and bars. It is also missplaced in the romantic moments, it comes up when the love scenes are almost done already. But if we have music in those sex scenes than it is romantic and nice to listen to.

The SETTING is the city of Stockholm. Lovely city, nice places and also the houses of the two girls are nice. Big plus point.

The EFFECTS beside those in clubs and bars are not relevant here.

What I liked about the movie

is that Below Her Mouth, even though the title is really trashy, has a good message, which should be transported in a better way. It has a nice setting and the topic of the love between two girls is really rare in the cinemas, which gives a big plus for the movie, because  April Mullen is not afraid to talk about this topic of lesbian love. I liked the acting of Erika Linder, in general I like her a lot, and e.g. in Orphan Black she is just awesome, and she transports that awesomeness into this movie.

What I did not like about the movie

is that the message of the movie should be told in a better way. The dialogues are not interesting, the camera handling is not good, the POV fail at all, the storytelling is flat, and most all, there is no emotional connector between the viewer and actors. It is like yes we love each other, but the problems, which occure here are dropped under the table. There is a couple who wants to get merried, but then nothing else is important anymore and everythin resolves by itself. This is not convincing and the biggest minus point for my score.

3/10 for the genre

because there is a part of Drama and love romance in there, and because of the cast.

2/10 overall

because of the said aspects and it is sad because there was much more in there and I was hoping a lot actually, but for nothing.

However, girls who love girls will have fun with that because it will go to their hearts. For all the other people out there I can say Guardians of the Galaxy in also showing right now, prefer that one, and so here I will finish this review about

Below Her Mouth

which starts this Thursday in the cinemas.
Thanks for reading and have fun while watching movies.

Set to the backdrop of 'Awesome Mixtape #2,' Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Review

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has a running time of 136 minutes, the movie is PG rated, and start this Wednesday worldwide in the cinemas.
Directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is about Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Baby Groot, and Rocket, who have to save the Universe for another time. They became famous already in the Universe, but still they will be called for jobs, which do not want to be done bt others, so Guardians of the Galaxy do special deals before they do their job. But not everyone of the Guardians is fine with that, especially Rocket not. He wants more, and so he steals something, and so the Guardians of the Galaxy will be the haunted ones. But they will have help from someone unexpected. So the Guardians separate, they havve their own adventures and stories. So there are topics like what is a Guardian, what is his or her role within the team, what does family and being friend mean and what is the future for Guardians of the Galaxy.

First of all what I can say is, that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is so funny, it is so great to see on the big wall, it is sad sometimes, great effects, settings, and music make Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to an adventure in the cinema.

But let us start with the CAST and Chris Pratt as Star-Lord. He is the main character to tell us the story of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and he is the main character of the group itself. He has a lot gags and jokes, but also deeper moments, a bit too much entertainment. Zoe Saldana is also back again as Gamora, she is hard difference to Star-Lord aka. Peter Quill, she has to face the topics of the movies, especially when she is fighting, her performance is on top. Dave Bautista is Drax, who is better in his performance compared to the first part, he is extremely funny, present, has a lot of screen time, he is not the smarter one but in some moments he turn the situation into the right direction and so the viewer has a lot to laugh about him, because the way he is doing those turning points is just funny. Rockett get more story and more screen time, nice animated, and even if he gets hurt, we feel with him, and we laugh with him. He is so cute. He has e.g. a scene were he has to fight against a lot of opponents, and he is doing that in the smartest way ever. So James Gunn is really good in telling different stories and actions, which do not repeat over and over again. Finally we have Groot, the secret super star of the movie. To avoid telling too much, I will stop talking about the cast right here. I cannot go on talking about the because I might tell you too much information, and you should have fun and be suprised while watching, even though there are still a lot people more in the cast.

I have watched the movie in 2D not in 3D and I watched the OV, not any other languages. This will be important later.

The CAMERA is great. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 shows us what it mean to creat powerful and colorful pictures. We have slow motions, again and again awesome settings of colors and worlds which are just insane to see on the screen.

The SETTINGS are different places in the Galaxy, I cannot tell you more, you'll see why.

The MUSIC is great, great songs and great general athmosphere when it comes up to sound and EFFECTS. They are strong and the usual look of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

STAY SEATED UNTIL THE END OF THE SCORE AND SCREENS.

What I liked about the movie

is the cast, the figures, the animations, the look, the music and the effects. Everything is on a high level as usual for the MCU, and especially the deeper story of the movie and of the characters is real, and not too much fiction.

What I did not like about the movie

is the fact, that the storytelling is to much pressured, it wants and wants to be something which is not something like Guardians of the Galaxy, here I am talking about the deeper and harder moments, it asks too much for the purpose of life. Here the movie has something to improve, it could be deeper than it is, it is too much surface scratching.

9/10 for the genre

8/10 overall

But still it is a great movie, one of the best of 2017 for sure, also if we look at the line up of movies from MCU, which will still come this year, and I wish you a lot of fun while watching and thanks for reading.

Storyline

When three college students move into an old house off campus, they unwittingly unleash a supernatural entity known as The Bye Bye Man, who comes to prey upon them once they discover his name. The friends must try to save each other, all the while keeping The Bye Bye Man's existence a secret to save others from the same deadly fate.

 Review

The Bye Bye Man has a running time of 97 minutes, the movie is P-13 rated, which is too high, because it is not bloody and violent pictures in there, and is in cinemas since April 5, 2017. It tells us the story of Elliott, who got a scholarship and together with his girlfriend Sash and his best buddy John he moves into an old house in the woods, far away from the campus. The problem is just that this house has its story which should be forgotten, but it is not because the sense of the story has different plans. And this will not happen because this story is about the Bye Bye Man, which name should not be told, neither thought, otherwise he will come and get you, or he will chaise you and will fuck your mind and turn you around and drive you crazy.

The CAST begins with Elliott who is played by , who is okay, nothing special. There is no background about him, as well as not for the other actors. He cannot carry this story on his shoulders, and so he is just okay.
Then we have as Sasha, Elliott's girlfriend in the movie, who is also just okay, and as John. There is nothing more to tell you about the cast, they are okay in their acting, somethings there actions are not easy to understand, so we it is okay if we forget about the movie universe and compare them to all the other actions already happened this year. Finally there is as the Bye Bye Man, he has a great look, a nice presents, and a cool acting sometimes set on jump cares, something spooky, and dark. He is the best in the cast.

The CAMERA is nice, is dark, set on different horror elements, behind the door scenes, jump cares, mind fuck moments, and splatter horror elements. All in all nice work.

The SETTING is the house of the three students, landscapes, most of the time the usual wood area, like what we saw e.g. in GET OUT already this year.

The MUSIC is sometimes too loud when it comes up to the scary moments.

The EFFECTS are sometimes good, sometimes not because the Bye Bye Man is not alone, he has a friend, who's animated not so good.

Conclusion:

The movie has actually a nice story telling, I like the idea of the movie of a man who comes first when you think about him or say his name. What I liked about the man is the Bye Bye Man and the going into different directions of the characters, their mind will fucked up and I like that idea always in horror movies.

The cast is not good, it is not important what will happen to the characters, which kills the movie. The action is easy to predict and so we have nothing new in the horror movie, it is not a horror movie in my eyes, because it is simple, not bloody and not scary, almost for kids.

4/10 as a horror movie

2.5/10 overall

This is a bad sad, because there was more to do with the script and the story. However, if you are a horror movie fan, go and watch, if not, you would not miss anything important.

Thanks for reading and have fun watching movies.

Storyline

The monster does not come walking often. This time it comes to Connor, and it asks for the one thing Connor cannot bring himself to do. Tell the truth. This is a very touching story about a boy who feels very damaged, guilty and mostly angry. He struggles at school with bullies, and pity looks from everyone, and at home with his mother's sickness. Will Connor overcome his problems? Will everything be okay? Will Connor be able to speak the truth?

Review

A Monster Calls has a running time of 108 minutes, the movie is PG-13 rated and start on May 4 in the cinemas all over Europe and tell us the story of Connor, a young guy, who has a lot of problems in his young life already. He is living together with his mother, who is also sick, his grand mother's relationship is difficult, and in his school his mates are mobbing him. Connor is actually a very kind and friendly person. Somewho he has strange dreams, and one day he is visited by a tree, a tree, which wants to show him three stories of life. Maybe the tree also wants to show him that life is not only about good and bad things, that love and suffering is connected with pain and loss. And so we have three story which are elementary for each person's life. Those stories reflect each person's life in a way that no one can say I don't see myself in there. This is genious and one thing before we go into details: A Monster Calls is a fanominal movie, it is deeply going to your heart, it made me cry like never before, the emotions in there, the look, the animations, the cast, and many things more make this movie to something really special, and I will tell you why, now.

Let's start this time with the Director who is Patrick Ness in the first line, besides Bayona. He is the author of this book A Monster Calls, and he was asked by the publisher to write, rather to continue the script of the book A Monster Calls. The script actually comes from a girl, a young girl, who died because she had cancer. If you know this, the movie has a much more deeper meaning, and I feel again so sorry for all those people who have die so early, because they are sick, and they have no chance to see what life is really about. It remembers me of my uncle who died because of cancer.

A Monster Calls is about the life, about love, loneliness, sickness, heart beats, and heart pains, and most of all about chances for everyone.

Let's switch over to the CAST. Lewis MacDougall plays Connor in an absolutely incredible way, he is super duper awesome. To deal with the loneliness, to deal with the pains, combined with the force of the duty to deal with that is insane and extremely awesome. He has to carry the story and he does in an easy way, he is so good in his performance, he is also contacting those kids, who are maybe around 12 to 16 years. Meanwhile Felicity Jones is the contact person for the older people. She is the mother of Connor, who is really sick, and who has to deal the pain every day, but also someone who loves her sun in a way, that it made me cry. Thos combination betweent mother and sun is awesome here during the performance and storytelling. In addition we have Sigourney Weaver, the grand mother, she is hard and she knows what life is about. No fruther details here, because this would ruin the suprise about her character.

The CAMERA has a lot of dark and cold pictures. The look is simply like this in this movie. Also the emotions are captured in a way which is just incredible.

Also the EFFECTS are so so powerful and awesome. As well as the monster, and when the earth breaks up and city and things come out of the earth is mind blowing that you have the feeling we are watching 3 billion USD budget movie.

The SETTINGS are the home of Connor and his mum, his school, a graveyard which has a very special meaning, and the story settings for each of the 3 stories.

The MUSIC is okay, it transports the action and the storytelling.

Conclusion

What I like about the movie are the effects, the looks and optic is insane. I like the cast and the storyline of the movie, which has all, again all important points of what is life about, these are the family, friends, how we see our selves, how we deal with love and pain, how we can still hope for something. The performance of the cast is awesome, and it is a movie also for kids of 12 or 13 years, since we have topics in there, which can be discussed also with the kids after wards.

It is nearly impossible to find something what I did not like about the movie. Maybe it is a bit to hard sometimes. I mean sometimes a bit too much hopeless. Don't forget that the message of the movie is like this: you go out of the cinemas and you really have something to think about, combined with the look and all the other points mentioned in the review I conclued that there is nothing bad about it anymore.

This movie is perfect. The movie reflects reality, and shows us what is important in life: love, people who we love, pain, care, and being alone sometimes. It makes us feel what life is about, it shows what we might have forgotten already.

A movie which touched my heart like none other before, which made me cry a lot, which is all in my eyes what a movie needs to be, deserves nothing else than

10/10 points (genre + overall)

and all what I can say is, guys if you have a chance to get a copy, do it. Just do it.

Thanks for reading this very special review, which is still special for me, and I wish you all the best in your life, take care, and have fun watching movies.

At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has never faced. I cannot wait for 24 May 2017 (Philippines) so that we can see how the adventure continues.
