June 1944. Allied Forces stand on the brink: a massive army is secretly
assembled on the south coast of Britain, poised to re-take Nazi-occupied
Europe. One man stands in their way: Winston Churchill. Behind the
iconic figure and rousing speeches: a man who has faced political
ridicule, military failure and a speech impediment. An impulsive,
sometimes bullying personality - fearful, obsessive and hurting. Fearful
of repeating, on his disastrous command, the mass slaughter of 1915,
when hundreds of thousands of young men were cut down on the beaches of
Gallipoli. Obsessed with fulfilling historical greatness: his destiny.
Exhausted by years of war and plagued by depression, Churchill is a
shadow of the hero who has resisted Hitler's Blitzkrieg. Should the
D-Day landings fail, he is terrified he'll be remembered as an architect
of carnage. Political opponents sharpen their knives. General
Eisenhower and Field Marshal Montgomery are increasingly frustrated by
Churchill's attempts to stop...
Review
Churchill
has a running time of 98 minutes, the movie is not ranked in its rating yet and
starts on May 25, 2017 and tells us the story about Churchill. It's a kind of
day to day bio just before D Day 1945, when the alliance landed at the French
coast. This man has a task, huge tasks to do, it is leading Great Britain into
the 2nd world war. Here he is Premiere minister still and he has a lot of
concerns like that a lot of people will die and thousands of soldiers will lose
their life. So the question is what will this make with him and can I do with
the fact that he may be is responsible for so many deaths soldiers. The movie
gives the answer and also the answer to the questions line what if he doesn't
do what he has to do and what if his own fellowship is against him. It's a
great movie about a man who has been a soldier as well, and it's a story about
a man in the United Kingdom where he made something special according to the
times of what we have right now. It is a movie about the political situation in
the United Kingdom especially in London and it is a movie about a man who is
not involved into the Second World War directly so please be aware of the fact
that it is a movie which so sad the happenings aside of the war. It is a movie
about the happenings behind the scenes.
The CAST
starts with Brian Cox as Winston Churchill. I think he's doing it in an
interesting way because he plays an old man who saw a lot of things already in
his life and it is an emotional man who things about the fact that he might be
responsible for the death of thousands of people. He is strong but he is also
weak in his role playing. For example the movie starts with a scene at the
beach and you can see the water uniting with blood, it is goes own blood.
Miranda
Richardson plays Clarendon Churchill, the woman at his side. A woman who grow
up with him, also in their marriage, they had a lot of happy but also sad
moments already together. She's always with him in good and bad times, but she
can also say no if he behaves not in that way as it is expected.
The
CAMERA with its nice, calm like a drama should be, sometimes a bit too slow,
but a typical bio pic work.
The
SETTING is either the beach or bureaus of the political center.
The
MUSIC is heavy, dramatic and quiet.
The
EFFECTS are not very much occurring in the movie.
What I
liked about the movie is the fact that we have a biopic from the person who was
actually a person who enjoys the private life but also he's a politician and so
here we have a combination or better a closing between the gap of being a
private person and the person who is in the middle of the public happenings.
For example he also holds a speech about freedom and to be strong and to fight
for your own rights which is so powerful that I got goosebumps while I was
watching it. I like it that the movie is really really calm and the cast is
great.
But
there are also a lot of things what I did not like about the movie for example
it is really really slow and it's a biopic which is not easy to watch. The
story is repetitive and it is always about the thing if he can deal with the
fact of what he is doing or not and this repeats like four five or six
times.
7/10 for the drama genre
5.5/10 overall
There is
definitely room for improvement but it is a movie about a person and people who
are interested in history will watch it anyway.
Thanks
for reading and have fun watching movies.
